Hey there,

I'm kinda new to TSM and I have to upgrade the version of a client from 5.2 to 5.5. Some people recommend to take small steps from 5.2->5.3...

But my question is, how to do that. I read some Guides but everything seems a bit too simple.

Is it just:
Uninstall old client
Install new client?

Or do I have to save files like dsm.sys or dsm.opt before? Or maybe stop some processes before (never really worked with Linux before, used to windows ^^)?
My question is most likely really stupid but i just want to make sure that everything is fine.
Any help is really appreciated

Hi,

what you have probably seen were TSM *SERVER* upgrade guides - for server it is recommended to go to 5.3 first and so on (because of DB upgrade and so on). When upgrading TSM client, keep dsm.sys and dsm.opt files, uninstall old TSM client, install new one, put dsm.sys and dsm.opt back and you should be fine.
