Upgrading from L3 to L5 LTO tapes

We are upgrading a library from L3 drives to L5 drives. I have a new range of L5 tapes to insert. How do I specify or define the new range of Volumes?

Thanks Marclant. Once I create a new device class, do I need to duplicate each storage pool to specify the new device class? Do I need to specify the volume range (B1001 to B1999) to be available for each storage pool?

That's your call. It all depends what client data you want to go where. Also keep in mind that you may need to update some copy groups to point to these new pools if that is where you want the data to go.

No. TSM will handle that and pick the right format of tape based on the device class for the storage pool.
