I got a problem on upgrading to 4.2. As I know that the installation contains 3 options and I want to perform a migrate install. However, when I use the SMIT utility to install, there is no "migrate install" option there. So, I found that my previous version of TSM was overwritten. Does anyone help ? How can I do the "migrate install" ? Anyone can give the command and steps to me. Your help is much appreciated.

thanks

The way TSM and lpp work under AIX is kinda funky. It's not like a normal AIX lpp. In order to upgrade between versions, you must first uninstall the previous version.

To go from 3.7.X to 4.2.X or 5.1.X, you must uninstall 3.7 first. This will leave your .sys and .opt files intact. Now you can install the new version.

To go from 4.2.0 to 4.2.1, then you can perform a 'smitty update_all' and it will upgrade to the lastest version you give it.

Doing a migrate install tends to have problems.
