upgrade of TSM5.3.4 Client on AIX5.2

Hi i am trying to upgrade my TSM client to 5.3.4 running under AIX5.2, using the smitty remove command, unfortunately while i am uninstalling the previous TSM client, there has been a previous attempt of the uninstallation, wherein he directly deleted the tsm client files.

Now, that i am trying to install the TSM client, it says that i needed to first uninstall the previous version. During the uninstallation error message is failed because it says that there is nothing to be deleted.

Please advice on how to resolve this issue.
 
Can you paste the smit.log file output both during removal of the code and also during install of the new code
 
The problem is like this. Before we can upgrade the client we need to uninstall the old tsm client 5.1.5 which tried via smitty remove. However the removal is not successful because according to smitty, there is nothing to deinstall. When you do lslpp the tivoli.tsm.clients.* were there.

By the way, the TSM client is not working ion this AIX server. When we tried to install the new tsm client, it ask us to deinstall the 64bit api first before continuing.

Is there a way to force the deinstallation safely or force the installation of new tsm client 64bit on aix 5.2 64bit?
 
I wonder if there is a way to remove it from /usr/sys/inst.images and clean it up...
I guess if you knew the filename or *.bff name you could try...
And move it back if it failed...

(just an idea...may take some AIX know-how though)

Nevermind my last post - I don't think that will help you much..

Just try to "force" install it:

/usr/lib/instl/sm_inst installp_cmd -a -Q -d '<location of your install file>' -f '_all _latest' '-c' '-N' '-g' '-X' '-F' '-G' '-V2' '-Y'

(That's the smitty shortcut...you can go the whole smitty installp route if you wish - just make sure the following are selected properly:

PREVIEW only? (install operation will NOT occur) = no
COMMIT software updates? = yes
Automatically install requisite software = no
Overwrite same or newer versions = yes
Accept new license agreements = yes
)

See if that helps you.

Can you try just installing the API first and see what happens?

also do a 'lslpp -l | grep TSM' to see what it still thinks / doesn't think is there and please paste the output.

I have tried uninstalling the API, and still doesnt work.
