The problem-

Quote:

Volume 000001L3 cannot be backed up - the volume is offline, in use by another process, not currently mountable, or access mode is "unavailable" or "destroyed". (SESSION: 2174)

The media is in the library- This is a brand new system just setup and brand new media it is possible the media is bad- but I think the media was ejected and never imported back in correctly- Any ideas?

Please keep in mind I am really new to TSM- it took me a week to realize after I imported tapes I had to issue a reply(Seriously).

So if the tape is in the library, can you run these and find it (and see if are there more):

q vol * access=unavailable

update vol * whereacc=unavailable acc=readwrite

(Sub your tape name in for * if you want to do one at a time)

Then after you make the tape available you may try this (in order) - it will make sure all your volumes are checked into the library properly:

audit library <lib_name> checklabel=barcode

checkin libv <libname> search=yes status=scratch checkl=barcode

checkin libv <libname> search=yes status=private checkl=barcode

What happens if you do the above?

-be sure to watch q req to see if it asks for a tape in the cap/door/port of your lib...

<I posted on this site the other day for an issue like yours, and I got good help:

"1) we have several volumes in "unavailable" state now - about 90 of them!

(I think what is happening is the checkin volume requests are expiring and then setting the tapes to unavailable:

11/04/05 08:56:03 ANR8351E 033: Mount request for volume A00067 has timed

out.

11/04/05 08:56:03 ANR8313E Volume A00067 is not present in library SCALAR.

(SESSION: 2)

11/04/05 08:56:03 ANR1402W Mount request denied for volume A00067 - volume

unavailable. (SESSION: 2)

11/04/05 08:56:03 ANR1410W Access mode for volume A00067 now set to

"unavailable". (SESSION: 2) )"

I believe this is what has happened to you as well... I missed replying to the requests>

I hope this helps you -
