Hi,

We are having tapes which are "Unavailable" with no read or write error having 33% utilized. So just tried to update the volume to access=readwrite and try to move data from that volume with in the same stgpool. But the process was not successful and the tape again return to "Unavailable".Can anyone pls suggesst a solution for this.

Thanks in advance.:)

Is the tape in the library / offsite? Did you check if it needed any other tapes to be loaded?

If you run q actlog, it will give you the reason why it failed. Check if it asked for any other media to be loaded.

If the media you are having problems with is not in the library, please first bring it onsite, by checking it into the library and then setting the status to RW, try moving the data again and watch your activity log. Should it require other tapes to be loaded, also check them into the library, as status=private and try to make it ReadOnly first.

Hope this helps :)

Hi haubi1,

I am facing the same problem and i found that AcsTimeoutX is set to 1.

Where should i change this option?

Aroon

Hi Everyone,

Please help me in changing the AcsTimeoutX option.I don't know where to change this option.

Aroon.

As stated in the TSM Administrators Reference guide:

"ACSTIMEOUTX Specifies the multiple for the built-in timeout value for ACSLS APIs. The built-in timeout value for the ENTER, EJECT, and AUDIT ACS API is 1800 seconds; for all other ACSLS APIs it is 600 seconds. For example, if the multiple value specified is 5, the timeout value for audit API becomes 9000 seconds, and all other APIs become 3000 seconds."

"Parameters value Specifies the multiple for the built-in timeout value for ACSLS API. The range is from 1 to 100. The default is 1."

For example, set ACSTIMEOUTX 5 in your dsmserv.opt and restart TSM server.
With 'q opt acst*' you can check if the value has changed.
