Hey,

my company is planning to use TSM instead of EMC Networker in a VMWare environment. Now, what are the main pro´s and con´s of these products in an explicit VMWare environment? Does EMC Networker support VMWare?

Thanks for answering!

What exaclty do you want..?

Both products can backup VMWare servers; can you be more specific as to what you looking to do.

EMC who owns VMWare also owns Networker so they make sure they play nice.

TSM have fully integrated with VMware ESX.

What is this full intergration you are speaking of?

VMWare consolidated backup is the only thing I can think of. And this is not a very good solution as of yet. It doesn't capture system state backups of your windows vm guests when doing file level backups. Also the reporting is very lacking. You have to check the logs on the vcb server to see what vm guest had issues.
