We are replacing our 2GB ram 420 with a 4GB ram 440...



Anyone out there using a bufferpoolsize > 262,144 on a Sun box??

I have migrated from a Sun 4500 with 2 X 450 mhz cpu's. 2gb of memory using a bufferpoolsize of 1048576kb to achieve a cache hit % of 98% or higher on the db, to a Sun 480 with 4 X 900mhz cpu's, 16gb of memory and I have been using a bufferpoolsize of 8367008kb and I have never hit below a 99.4% cache hit on the db. I also use shared memory option to backup about 1TB of EMC BCV data daily which compresses down to about 500gb before I move it from the diskpool to tape. So with your system I believe that you could use a bufferpoolsize of 524288kb
