Hi all,

A client of mine has purchased some extra TSM licences as they were receiving error messages that they didn't have enough.

I've seen their entitlements on the IBM partnerworld website. Should they be able to download these new .lic files from somewhere or is it a case of just running the register licence command to update their servers.

Thanks in advance.

All you have to do is register the new number of clients (lan-free, TDP for *, whatever they purchased)

The lic files are the license files themselves. Without the lic files, you have a 60-day trial version.

Once purchased should they receive the licence files from IBM?

The actual license files don't change due to the number of clients licensed. All they have to do is register the new number. For example, if they used to have 10 lan-based clients and they purchased 10 more, they would issue the command:

register license file=/usr/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/mgsyslan.lic number=20

Change the location and the file to where ever their license files are and the number that they are now entitled to.

If they need the actual license files, those are only on the official TSM media. You can request the media from IBM.
