Hello everyone!
Does anyone have experience with backup of win2000 or sql2005 (on Win2003R2 OS)?
Is it working well? did you try to restore?

TIA,
Daniel.

The BA client version that must be loaded does not support Windows 2000. We have tried and it does not work.

If you are just backing up the entire Windows 2008 hosting the SQL 2005 environment as an image for a point in time recovery, then it works. But if you need to restore the DB to its current state, then you have to use a hybrid solution: TSM for VE + TDP for SQL.

But, in my viewpoint, I frown at virtual DB servers. The performance is just not there especially for over eager admins and business groups who wants to squeeze as many as possible guest partitions into a limited bandwidth Intel-based back plane. Just me and my damn conservative ways.

Thanks!
What about Win server 2003?
I couldn't find any information about supported VM's OS to backup.
I googled a few hours about it but couldn't find any info.
Does anyone have that kind of info?
I know a TSM admin that backing up VM that has windows 2003, but there is nothing official about it.

TSM BA 6.3 and TSM for VE 6.3.x (and above) should work with Win 2003.
