TSM Client Compatibility

Hello



Can anyone answer this for me:



I am currently using BA Client Version 5.2.4.2, TDP SQL Ver 5.2.1.0 and TDP Domino Ver 5.3.0.2.



The TSM Server version we are using at present is 5.2.8.0 and we are moving to version 5.3 after Christmas.



What I need to know is can we still use the same client Versions as above for all three even when when we move to Version 5.3 of the Server on the server side of things. All Client systems will be W2K3. Basically are they compatiple

Yes, they are. We run clients as ancient as 3.7 against a 5.3 Server.

As a rough rule of thumb, you can say: server and client should be +/- 1 in version. So if you use a TSM Server 5.x clients should be 4.x.



But as PJ already mentioned, it works also with "lower" combinations as well. So start with your given TSM client environment and if you experience no problems, you can keep your client versions. We are also still running some 3.7.x TSM clients against 5.3.x TSM servers - and it works fine.
