TSM 6.2.3.0 "dsmserv db restore"

We have a Test-LM (TEST-LM2) and a TEST-LC (TEST-TSM2) running TSm 6.2.3.0.
After testing Standard Stuff we wanted to do a Restore of the LC Database.

- Made a Backup. Successful as the activitylog said.
- delete Files in /test-tsm2/tsmdb001 and 002.
- Tried a restart which failed as planned.
- started /opt/..../dsmserv restore db

and got:

While opening and closing happens instantly!!

There are no firewalls.
The serverpassword ist test for both servers.
updated in devconf.out for LC and set serverpa for LM.

So whats wrong here?
I can see a session from TEST-TSM2 on TEST-LM2.
I can see the tape beeing mounted.
But TEST-TSM2 cant read it AND
After this the Tape is not UNmounted, which i have to to in the library gui by "move to home element"

audit library ... successful

any ideas? anyone had such a problem?

I would recommend you wipeout the devconfig like I did and just define a manual library, drive, and path and then using the gui manually move the tape. It works like a charm and once the DB is restored the library will revert to using its old definitions. See my blog post here.

i will keep this in mind if IBM wont have an idea whats the problem in our environement.
because actually it SHOULD work the way i tried shouldn't it?

And i can do this with a SCSI/SAN Library with multiple Logical Libraries without Problems?? Just configure that one Drive as "MANUAL"!?
Just asking because the Syntax says: "Syntax for a library in a LAN"

DEFINE SERVER TEST-LM2 COMMMETHOD=TCPIP HLADDRESS=1.2.3.4 LLADDRESS=1920 SERVERPASSWORD=test
SET SERVERNAME TEST-TSM2
SET SERVERPASSWORD test

and doing SET SERVERPASSWORD test on the TEST-LM2 should make shure, that there are NO rejected sessions ^^


i just don't see why it says "ANR8390W Failure connecting to library client TEST-TSM2"
If i change the serverpa and def server password.... in the devconfig i get a connection error when starting the restore.
But why does this happen when AFTER the tape is mounted, opened AND closed from the LC.. thats weired.
