We are in a situation where we are running IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 4.22 for Windows connected to an IBM 3584 LTO Ultra Scalar library and about to migrate up to 5.22.
In the meantime we have been patching the Windows server with hotfixes as and when required. The server is very stable and we have had very few issues but hit an interesting problem on Friday when applying the latest Microsoft patches
MS04-07, 08,11,12,13,14
After applying the patches and rebooting everything appeared as normal but when we checked the activity log to check out the server we found that from Tivoli Storage Manager's perspective it could not see the LTO library. It reported SCSI errors saying it could not contact the library.
We followed the sensible path and rolled back the patches and rebooted the server cleanly.
After this TSM started to work again and the SCSI communication returned.
Has anyone else had a similar issue ?
Looking through the technical details of the hotfixes I noted MS04-07 looks like a candidate for why we had issues as it updates the
