The number of Scratch tapes reduces drastically

The number of scratch tapes reduces drastically with out being actually used by the TSM and after the recycling the TSM server the TSM shows the correct value of Scratch values.



Why does this happen??and is there any other way of doing this without being recycling the TSM server.



This problem use to happen once a month..

now this happens once three days...

To better help you. What version of the TSM Server that you are using on what operating system and what type of library? Is the library being shared?

TSM server is 4.2.1.13 running on AIX 4.3.3

Tape Library is 3494 and is The library is shared.

Since you are using TSM Server 4.2.1.13, check the readme file for the latest maintence code and patch code to see if there are any known issues.



Since TSM 4.2 is no longer supported, may want to upgrade to the latest 4.2 maintence code

since your runing a fix test code .



Also check the version of the Atape and the atldd.

If you could, upgrade the Atape and the atldd to the latest version, that is if you are not at the latest version.

When I have encounter strange issues with the tape library and the last thing that I do is upgrade the Atape and the atldd. For some odd reason the issue go away.
