IN THE TSM LOGS, ALL DATABASES FAIL WITH THIS ERROR:

09/02/2009 21:01:01 Backup of QuestWorkDatabase failed.
09/02/2009 21:01:01 ACO5422E Received the following from the MS SQL server:

09/02/2009 21:01:01 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

OK.. try to "dump" the database into a flatfile throught the MS Sql interface.. This could pin point the problem.. If you cannot backup the database from MS SQL console.. the probleme might be SQL and not the TDP..

The other option is to install the lastest vesion of the BA(5.5.2.2) and TDP(5.5.2.1)

Was it working before?? is this a new installation?? Did any upgrade happen SQl and OS??

No, it is not a new install, its been working for some time now. No upgrades. I have the SQL guys looking at it now. I'll post any findings.

Still fighting this issue. SQL team was able to run a backup to file.

09/08/2009 21:00:37 ACO5422E Received the following from the MS SQL server:
09/08/2009 21:00:37 An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch.
09/08/2009 21:00:37 Cannot open backup device 'TDPSQL-000003E0-0000'. Operating system error 0x80770006(error not found).

09/08/2009 21:00:37 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

OK.. Try upgrading the BA et TDP.. ONe other Thing.. is the security of the DB as change??? Do you backup trought SA or an account???

Hi,

may be problem with access. update in dsm.opt with PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE, check with user id and password.

I've reinstalled the baclient and TDP. Working with the server owner to schedule a reboot. I bet you anything that will fix it. Gotta love windows.

Dont blame windows on this.. Got an issue with SAP on Solaris.. Redo logs where working.. but the full failed... had to reinstalled the TDP SAP agent et reboot the SAP server.. after this everything was working..

reboot?

Have you rebooted the sql box?
Once a week we get a virtual memory error "BackupVirtualDeviceSet::SetBufferParms: Request large buffers failure on backup device 'TDPSQL-000011E0-0000'. Operating system error 0x8007000e(Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.)."

I reboot the box and we're good for a week. TDP uses up the virtual memory space on the sql box, and we also have some CLR code that runs too, which also plays in that virtual memory space also. It's SQL Server 2005, clustered.
