Hello Everyone!

I have a cluster environment "TWO WINDOWS SERVER 2008 R2 VIRTUAL NODES" running MS EXCHANGE 2010. Under this environment, I have installed Tivoli Data Protection for MS EXCHANGE.

At this moment, 500GB backup procedure takes around 8 hours to be completed. It seems to me that the TDP could backup this 500GB in less time. I meant, if I change some parameters at the TDP side (dms.opt & tdpexch.cfg files), this backup procedure could be completed in less time.

Could you please help me on this?

Well, your backup time is faster than what I used to have!

In my old environment, after all the tweaks, I can get only 500GB in 10 hours off a separate 1GB copper backup LAN.

You can tweak buffer count and buffersize in the TDP DSM.opt file and see if changes or improves your backup speed.

Hi,

You have hit the same issues as me. The cfg file will not help you much in terms of tuning. VSS backup does not use them.

What you can try is to run several backups in parallel.

If you do not need mailboxinfo, the insert this line in your cfg file
storemailboxinfo yes

Other stuff to use is clientside dedup and compression.

I get this for full backup with dedup and compression (a small exchange server)

Hopeing to use this technology on a few large systems shortly.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
I will try with "DEDUPLICATION", "COMPRESSION" and "RESOURCEUTILIZATION" options in the client side.

Hi,
Do you have an performance issue ?
I have the same problem : TDP is very slow (20 Mo/s)

Thks
