Hello, I'm trying to do some capacity planning for backupsets and find it a bit odd that when I query the filespace occupied by my Storage Group Backups, it shows 0 capacity and 0% utilized. Naturally, I know the size of the drives that Exchange occupies, but was just wondering if 1) does it normally report 0 & 0% for Exchange TDP backups and 2) Is there another query I can perform to obtain the actual values for capcity and % utilized?

Thanks,

Dennis

This is exactly the same question I was searching an answer for, did you get one?

Seems to be normal; it does that here too.

For your sizing, consult Operational reporting or the summary table for the last backup you did and use that number.

And before you start generating backup sets from Exchange TDP data, do a search of this forum, because it is NOT going to work. You can generate the backupset, but you can't restore it.

This is because the TDP API lacks statistics transfer capability.

Same for SQL, Exchange and Lotus Notes also
