TDP 2007 "CANNOT Restoring single mail box"

Dears

After configuring all servers for backing up an EXCHANGE 2007 server with TSM 5.5 AND TDP for it
It seems like all done successful.

BUT

If I want to restore a single mail box, I cannot do so
Because if you want to restore
you only restore the whole storage group
so
if you could help me in that issue , because I think it can be done.
hence you may not restore the whole storage group for recovering only one mail.

Exchange granular restores

Hi

Currently the method to restore a mail box is to recover the storage group to a exchange recovery group and ex-merge the data out. This is not ideal and is generally an issue when selling TSM. What I have recommended to customers is to put in a 3rd party archive solution which has the folllowing benefits

1. Reduce email storage
2. Customers can meet compliance requirements
3. Users can recover individual mails/calander entries or complete mail files themselves.

I have found the Quest email archiving product a good fit with TSM

Hi,

you could take a look at Ontrack Powercontrols.

They offer a plugin for their tool to connect to a TSM Server as the TDP and then they can extract single objects.
Works nice.

Unfortunately it is not supported for TSM 5.5 (just 5.4).

And you have to pay extra for it...

IBM have included Individual Mailbox Restore functionality in the new release.

Maybe this is a good oportunity to sell FastBack for Exchange (ex-Filesx)

Hi, no good, you can restore an individual mailbox, but only after restoring the entire Mailbox Storage Group the user is on
