Hello,

We are running SAP on DB2 (AIX os), backup solution is TSM. As we know it 2 backup methods available:
1. DB2 built-in TSM support
2. TSM for ERP on DB2 additional TSM software
At this point I see no difference between two, and 1. looks better for me - no additional software needed.

Maybe someone has experience with both of them, and could compare them - is there any significant differences ?

thanks,
Vilius M.

The TSM TDP product intergrates into the SAP BRtools menu. so a SAP admin can check backups, run refreshes/restores, delete old backups and maintain the backups in general.
The BA/API when configured will do online DB2 hot backups of the SAP backend DB2 database, but this does not talk to SAP so your SAP admin
cant do anything from within SAP in regards to backups. The DB2 admin account is needed to script a backup, check the backup from the database side by running db2adutl commands and delete old backups.
When you spend big $$$ on SAP you want a proper backup that intergrates go with TDP
If your a cheap skate then db2 native is for you.
