SAN client WITHOUT EDT in an STK/ACSLS environment

We're about to test our theory with an NT/W2K SAN client and an AIX/TSM server, but has anyone successfully deployed SAN clients (any platform) with a stand-alone TSM server (any platform) in an STK/ACSLS environment without using a 3rd party software "go-between" package similar to EDT/Gresham code? I know it's possible with LTO, but we have a large STK silo environment, and I doubt that this will go away any time in the near future.
