Restoring files from a different Node in TSM 6.2 GUI/ Command Line

Hi ,

I have to restore files backed up from Server A to Server B using gui / command line.

Both the servers are pointing to the same TSM Server.

Please help with the steps in doing so.

In the server you want to restore to:
*Assumes they are the same OS*
Edit the the dsm.opt/sys file
Enter a new line with 'nodename <original servername>'
Open a gui/clui and restore
Edit the dsm.opt/sys file
Take out the nodename line

Hi Rakin ,

Please confirm if the following method will also work

1. login to GUI of Server B
2. SELECT CONTACT ANOTHER NODE
3. Select Server A
4. Select the file spaces required
4. Give restore.

In this case hope i dont have to edit the dsm.sys file

I have not tried it therefore I cannot confirm it. It should work if Server B has been given right to Server A.

Give it a shot and test it out to confirm it.

you could also try dsmc -virtualnodename=nodename in cli
