I have inherited a TSM environment using offsite media rotation. We have an onsite tape pool, and copy pool for offsite media. I have encountered a problem with some media failures in the onsite pool.
Now I want to do a restore volume to recreate these volumes from the offsite copy pool. I see I cannot change the state from VAULT to VAULTRETRIEVE (unless I am not seeing it) so I am curious how one goes about recalling data from offsite to recreate a damaged volume or two.
I have run the restore volume 123456 preview=yes to see what volumes I would need back, but am not clear on the mechanics of getting TSM to recognize that they are actually back in the library. I could recall them from offsite, but TSM will still show them all in a VAULT state.
