Hello,

I am doing a restore of about 700.000 items with a total size of about 53 GB

All data is stored on one tape. Servers are both on GB glasfiber.

This restore is taking about 16!!! hours to complete which cannot be normal.

Does anyone have any suggestions or pointers as to how quick a restore like this should go? And what could cause this restore to be so slow

thanx in advance

This restore may have been completed by the time I type this, but seeing that all data is on one tape (which is good), I would say check for speed/duplex mismatching between client, switch, and server. Correcting such mismatches will solve many problems, not just backup/restore.

What does the client's dsm.sys look like? Can we see a sample? Try increasing the tcpbuffsize to 32, or 64 . . . This has a direct impact on how fast you restore. Like someone else said below, try the txngroupmax. Let's see your dsm.sys and we can see what we can tweak!
