restore dbbackup from linux(TSM) to win (TSM)

hi,

I am db backup of tsm 5.3[linux RHEL4] on tape. Can I restore this db on tsmserver 5.3 on window 2003.

please help .

Hi,

if the HW platform is the same (x86 I suppose) AND the TSM level is the same AND DB backup is on physical tape (not 100% sure about this ... if it is in FILE volume, you have to modify volhist.out and devconfig.out for sure), then it works (atleast worked for me - long ago so I do not remember exact details) BUT
a) it is unsupported
b) every disk based volume (FILE or DISK device class) is lost because of volume naming (/a/b/c vs c:\x\y\z)
c) for the same reason you have to redefine all disk-based device classes etc.

... and maybe more

I would not do it in production (use export/import)
