Hello,

we had a crash on our TSM server, and we have lost db, recovery log, volume history and everything else. The only thing we have is a DB backup full on tape...

So I've reinstalled everything and I'm trying to restore that db, but I don't know in which tape it was saved (I have a SCSI library with more than 100 DLT tapes).

I've rebuild the device config file, but when I run

DSMSERV RESTORE DB DEVCLASS=DLTCLASS1 VOLUMENAMES=000001

(I'm searching for the right tape...)

I got the message

ANR8324I DLT volume 000001 is expected to be mounted (R/O)

ANR4621I Database backup device class DLTCLASS1

ANR4622I Volume 1: 000001.

AND4632I Starting point-in-time database restore (no commit)

ANR8312E Volume 000001 could not be located in library lb6.0.0.2

ANR1402W Mount request denied for volume 000001 - volume unavailable

ANR4578E Database backup/restore terminated - required volume was not mounted

It seems to me that TSM is not able to ask the library to mount tapes...

Any suggestions ?

Thank you

Mmoro

PS: I'm running TSM v4.1.4 on Win2k, with a SCSI library, nr.4 DLT8000 drives

hi,

don't you need to check in your volumes? the devcnfg.out defines the libraries, devclass and drives but not the volumes. but don't try to label your tapes. otherwise your db backup could be deleted.
