Not a TSM question, but TSM is the destination of the backup and I'm involved.

Right now we run a UNIX script to check for log archive filesystem threshold. If it's met (10% full), an Oracle log archive backup runs, then deletes the logarchives from the filesystem.

Now our DBAs have moved to ASM for the databases and are looking to do that with the log archives. At that point, there is no more need for that file system, and no more visibility of the UNIX script to know when to run a log archive backup.

Is anyone familiar at a high level at what is done here? I assume it will have to be a scheduler, within Oracle or otherwise, that calls these log archive backups on a schedule now, instead of a threshold, unless somewhere in Oracle the DBAs can do something threshold-related.
