Opt GUI tool - n00b question

Hi,

I’m pretty new to TSM.
One of the biggest hurdles for me so far, has been creating the OPT file.
I find it very time consuming. The IBM Tivoli Storage manager doesn’t seems to a great tool for creating the OPT file.

I’m looking for some kind of GUI tool to help med write the OPT file.
Any suggestions?

Hi,

If i understood your query properly,While you are installing your client in windows itself ,you will get your backuparchive GUI,where you will find a setup wizard which will help you in updating your opt file.

You can also copy paste your existing opt file and make necessary changes.

What enriqedk is asking is the Files/Folders include and exclude should be in GUI.

Am i right eniqedk ? Correct me if i am wrong.

As per my knowledge there is no GUI tool to create or modify the dsm.opt/dsm.sys file for include and exclude.

Yes, you right, I'm looking for some kind of GUI tool to modify the include/exclude list in dsm.opt.

Hi,

As far as I know, updating your opt file for include/ exclude in windows is possible through GUI.
Also you can try launching webclient for Unix client ( 1581 ) and explore an option for modifying your opt.

This tool needs more work than editing the dsm.opt file manually!
