Hi,

Need to plan BMR for two Microsoft Cluster Servers(Failover Cluster). Is the below steps are enough or something need to add up for cluster services..

Backup Plan
i) Backup all local drives
ii) Backup shared drives
iii) System State Backup

Restoration Plan
i) Install the OS & network drivers
ii) Install the TSM Client
iii) Restore the data (local drives & shared drives)
iv) Apply Systemstate backup
v) Restart the Server.

Please correct me if I miss anything…

TSM Server Details
Version 5.5
OS AIX 5.3

I seem to be missing a Test Plan.

Other than that, I can't offhand shoot holes in your plans. You will need to implement node and cluster backups correctly, of course.

if only one node fails and it's a exchange cluster you can simply install a new base OS, configure shared disks etc and perform a disaster installation/configuration provided by microsoft exchange. this procedure will collect all required information from the active node and active directory. No need to restore anything from TSM provided that only one node crashes and it's a exchange cluster.

Don't forget Cluster Disk Signatures

One gotcha we ran into when restoring a MS cluster to Windows 2003 R2 SP2 was that the MS Cluster will expect the cluster signatures of the new disks to match the registry entries of the old clustered disks (see [FONT=&quot]Microsoft KB280425 for more information).
