Does anyone know of any AIX emulators I can use either through VMware or on x86 hardware?
I'm Linux based now, but would like to learn AIX.

I haven't found one. I was once only well verse with AIX 4.3. When I wanted to learn AIX 5.x, I bought an old RS6000 that is 64-bit capable with AIX 5.3 loaded on it so I could update myself.

I bought an old RS6000 44P model 170 from eBay for US$372.00. A good way to learn.

AIX will only run on PPC(PowerPC) hardware and only special versions of PPC hardware (not all Mac PPC hardware will work) You best bet would be to pick up a used workstation (43P-150 or 44P-170) Both will run AIX 5.3 and the latter will run AIX 6.1 that was just released. Honestly, any hardware that will run AIX 5.2 or higher will work (5.2 as thats when you get into JFS2 and new LVM options)

Thanks for the reply, that's what I figured. I wish I had the money for one of those.
