License problem after upgrading to 5.3

After reading the readme and documenting a procedure to upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3 someone didn't read the steps outlined and missed something. I believe the 'nodelock' file was not renamed.



Now after the upgrade is complete q lic shows:





Last License Audit: 07/22/2005 14:54:00

Is Tivoli Storage Manager for Data Retention licensed ?: No

Is Tivoli Storage Manager Basic Edition in use: Yes

Is Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition licensed: No

Server License Compliance: FAILED



I have the license for the Extended Edition, but when attempting to install i get the following:



tsm: TSM>reg lic file=tsmee.lic

ANR2852I Current license information:

ANR9638W License registration is not supported on this server.

ANS8001I Return code 3.



Looking through similar posts, I have attempted to re-install the licensing from the CD with no luck.



Now, my library is not working, and I would rather not restore anything at this point, as it seems so simple to correct.

If you have your CD version of 5.3 Server do the following:



1. move the nodelock file to a different directory or rename nodelock.5.2 (what ever u want)

2. insert your CD

3. you want to install the license software again and only the license software.

4. Now start the TSM Managment console

5. Return to the Tivoli Storage Manager Console, expand the tree for the Tivoli

Storage Manager server you are configuring, and click Wizards.

6. Select License Configuration from the wizards displayed in the right pane

and restart this wizard to register the licenses you have purchased.



Note: The License Wizard will not appear if you have not installed the Tivoli

Storage Manager license package.



The 5.3 product has some built in functions and your license agreement on your cd should know what you have.



If that doesn't work, call 800-ibm-serve (800-426-7378) and open a PMR. They can help you further.

I've install TSM Server v.5.3.2.0. with source from IBM Partner . It's show no license for every TDP licenses. and don't have licenses file (.lic) in TSM Server Folder .



My IBM Partner 's download from ibm intranet . and Test install .

The result 's same .

Why ?



anybody can solve this problem. :rolleyes:
 
With 5.3 version the licensing registration model changed.

The wizard is no loger available. You simply need to open the command line and type in:

register license file=tsmbasic.lic.

However before that you have to remove the NODELOCK file (or rename it).



I had the same problem and it worked.
