Can anyone cast some light on this problem?
I have ADSM 3.1 server on AIX. Using 8mm tape, i need to import a nodes filespace, which is in 1 filespace which spans 24 tapes. Each tape holds approx. 20 Gb of data. So the filespace in total is just over 400Gb.
I started the import, and have seen the tape move data at the rate of 1 tape every 12 HOURS. I was expecting to see this moving a lot faster... the block size on the tape device is 1024, and the buffer size of the server is set at 1024.
The drive seems to be constantly shoe-shining, and fails after about 16 hours of operation, so i cannot get the filespace back.
Can anyone help with the tuning of the transfer rate, or give me any pointers as to why this is so slow???
Many thanks
