Is it possible to do DRM without checking out tapes?

Hi all,

I would like to setup DRM so I can have a copy of my primary tape pool but we do not want at this time to send tapes offsite. I assume that the only thing I would need to do is:

1. Backup storage pool to a copy pool.

2. Backup TSM DB

3. Run reclamation on copy pool (to reclaim the tapes)

Am I missing somethig? Has anyone done this before that could rovide me with suggestions or comments?

Thanks in advance,

BTNA

You got it! As the full set of steps with DRM would be:

1) Back up storage pool(s) to copy pool(s)

2) Back up TSM database to a removable media class

3) move drm, check in returning volumes as scratch, etc

4) reclaim storage pools

5) backup volume history

I know of a few clients that have in the past, and some still do, have a second library. This is the target of their storage pool copies, so their disaster recovery steps only include the steps you speak of.
