I have a 5.1 TSM server, with a IBM3580 standalone tape drive. For devclass, I have already defined it as LTO type, however, when I want to label a volume, the server asked for a GENERICTYPE tape. I wonder why. Then the volume labelling process fail with I/O error. Do anyone have any idea on it?

my define path command is:

define path TSM drive01 srctype=server desttype=drive library=ibm3580 device=/dev/rmt0

Is problem related to the special file name /dev/rmt0 ? but the device /dev/rmt0 do exist in OS.

More, if the tape is already labelled, can we delabel it? as I already delete the volume in TSM...but when i label it again...it say the tape is already labelled.

Hope anyone who got some ideas can help me.

Hi,

May you say your os ? (Win2000, AIX, SunOS, HPUX, NT4).

When you try to labbeling one cartridge already labelling by tsm, for security reason TSM refuse to write over. It's necessary your specify with your command line "overwrite"

Thanks in advance.
