How to migrate compressed backup data on existing physical tapes to ProTectier VTL?

An existing TSM customer would like to go 100% tapeless. They would like to migrate all of the backup/archieve data on existing tape pool to ProTectier VTL. However, most of the backup/archieve data was compressed bt TSM client (the setting before they acquire ProTectier) so they can't seem to be getting any benefit from ProTectier deduplication. Can anyone suggest a workaround to this problem?

You can not change that, nor can you uncompress that data serverside.
