Somehow I have a tape that got labelled in my library from another tape's barcode. I don't know if I did something to cause it, or if the code reader or drive got out of whack. Anyway I have 2 tapes:

barcode=000770L6 (label=000779L6, primary stg pool, contains data)
barcode=000779L6 (no data)

Is there a way I can recover from this situation? I can't seem to do a MOVE DATA since TSM will always complain about the label being wrong.

I suppose I could try to print out a barcode for 000779L6 and glue it over the 000770L6 code? Would that work in a TS4500 library?

Any other tricks to try? Thanks!

I ended up just photocopying the barcode of one tape and taping it onto the other, so as to fool the library into loading the tape I wanted. Then I could just relabel it, the remove the fake barcode. Solved.

I still wish I knew how this happened!
