Hi Experts,
I ever play with HP Data protector. It able to report about media quality such as good, poor or bad then i can plan to buy new one or replace them if any error with media problem. But now, i'm working with Legato, i still don't know how i can check them?

I think HP Data Protector is still using MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure, ie. the average time before something will fail) to report media quality, it counts the number of times the tape has been mounted and reports quality based on manufacturer life-cycle estimates.

Networker command line 'mminfo -m medianame' will report the mount count and you can lookup the MTBF for your media type.

If your software history gets deleted or 'cleaned-up', the mount count maybe inacurate.
