file device class on an S/390 server - question about maxcapacity

Does any one know what the optimum size of maxcapcity should be defined for a device class with device type of file, that will enable TSM to fill an entire MOD3 disk volume? This would be for the primary allocation and 15 extents.

We did not specify the maximum capacity when we set ours up. We allocated the VSAM files so the primary filled up the volume. The secondary was set to zero.

ALLOCATE TSM VSAM DATA SETS

2344 MB = 50010 TRKS WITH ROOM FOR 15 CYL VVDS

ABOUT .703 MB / CYL

4MB IS USED BY TSM SO ADD 4MB TO MB= PARM
