Hi,

we have defined a diskpool of one of our storagesystems. This diskpool has a capacity of 10 TB.

We want to extend this diskpool to a toal of 25 TB by assigning capacity from a second storagesytem.
Do we need a second deviceclass for the 2nd storagesystem or can we append the space by using the dsmformat command ?
I'm not sure about this....that's why I'm asking...

Thanks

You don't need a 2nd device class, in fact you cannot use a second device class on the same pool. Unless you have a very old version of TSM, you won't even need to use dsmformat.

All you need to do is define new storage pool volumes. HELP DEFINE VOLUME for the proper syntax. Adding volumes to a new pool is the same process as adding volumes to an existing pool.

Check the links at the bottom, I don't know which platform you are on, so click the one appropriate for your platform.
