Expire some (but not all) TDP for Exchange backups

We are backing up TDP for Exchange daily and retaining the backups for 6 months. This is proving to be too many backups. So we want to keep daily backups for only two weeks and weekend Sunday backups for 6 months. We will create a new Management class for the new weekly retention.

BUT HOW can I delete just the week day backups from my existing TDP backups while keeping the existing weekend Sunday backups for the past 6 months??

You must create 2 nodes, and put them in 2 different policy sets with the management class accordingly.

For your daily backups, according with your info, you need 5 versions.

For the montly backups you need 26 version (4 versions per month + 2 version to be safe)

Use 2 dsmopt, and call one dsm.opt and dsmmontly.opt and then run your backups accordingly.
