Excluding files from Client backup

Set the excludes in the client options set. I have one for each OS. (NT, 2K, AIX, Mac,...)

The manual should be able to help you out on the specific options.

There is a dsm.opt on each client. You can, and probaly will have excludes in both places.

Both places. If an exclude is needed for something on every server then put it in the client option set, if it is specific to a server, place it in the dsm.opt. I use both, you could place all of the excludes in the dsm.opt. I do not think it would be practical to place all excludes in the client option set.



For example:



These are needed for all NT servers

In client option set:

exclude ?:\pagefile.sys

exclude.dir ?:\temp



These are only needed on SQL servers

In the dsm.opt:

exclude.dir ?:\sql\data

exclude.dir ?:\sql\log
