Ejecting more that tapes from our ibm3584

When more than 10 tapes need to be sent off site our tape library system will put 10 tapes into the bucket and we have to individually manually eject each tape.



Is this normall?



Is there anything i can do that will put the additional tapes into the bucket without performing this manual process ?

My sources at IBM state this as a known bug with TSM and are looking to address it. They suggested a script with a reply built in, so that when it selected ten tapes it would wait for you to reply that you had taken those tapes out before continuing. I have not tried this yet.

You must modify parametro ENABLE of option INSERT NOTIFICATION for DISABLE

Did not work here. We have been disabled from day one.

On a normal day we have around 15 tapes to be removed from the 3584.

To get around the 10 tape I/O limit we wait until the I/O slots are nearly full then open the I/O door and remove some of the tapes. TSM and the library will then re-use the newly emptied slots.
