Hi,
I have in our TS3310 - library (with 3x LTO3 drives) 4 cleaning cartridges. But the library don't use this cartridges. Now I get errors, that the drives needs cleaning cartridges. What is the reason that it don't functions automatically?
When I used "clean drive <libr> <drive>" it runs...

Here the TSM-definitions:

please help....

Hi,

no idea?
Can anybody explain where I can configure the cleaning cycles/frequenzy for a LTO3 in a TS3310?

Best regards,
Frank

frank,

in the lto guide is stated that you normally do not need to clean the drive, because it has somehow the means to autoclean itself ... unless explicitly requested, as it happened to you. In a few installations i haven't even inserted cleaning tapes into the library, and it's working fine.
In your position, I would try to do a manual cleaning, and set the Cleaning Frequency parameter to NONE (not ASNEEDED, i personally don't like that).

cheers

ts3100 / ts3200 / ts3310

yes, none value is correct but verify that autoclean is enabled on the library (not the default for all fw) and that you have the cleaning slot configured (and the cleaning tape inserted of course).

Maurizio

I agree with Max. In my old 3584 (TS3500) with 3 LTO2 drives, I never had to do any cleaning for the last 2 1/2 years.

Just do manual cleaning when asked, and don't set any auto cleaning. For me it is a bad idea.
