Checking up Oracle backup (TDP)

Hello
My custome is checking up oracle backup (unix) via scripts
Which he wrote to Oracle RMAN REPOSITORY .
Works fine for Oracle 10 g ONLY !!
Orcle 9 does NOT send updates to Rman repository .
How can i VALIDATE an Rman script of backing up Oracle 9
At Linux / Unix environment ?
Will : Q FILE XXXX F=D is sufficent to be sure that the backup
Works error free ?
Please advice
