changing active policy sets

Could anyone give me advice on changing configurations in the active policy sets? We have two copies of our policy sets. One is standard and the other is active. Can I activate the standard policy set or do I have to make a copy of the standard and make that active? I appreciate your comments!!!

Once you activate your "standard" policy, TSM automaticly makes a copy of it, calls it "Active" (deleting the old active policy) and that becomes the active policy.
