Can a single AIX LPAR used for DR Restores of TSM6.2.4 and TSM6.3.2

Hi Friends,

We have an existing PROD TSM Server 6.2.4 which has a DR TSM Server for DRM.

Now we are building a new PROD TSM Server with TSM 6.3.4.


Is there any way by which i can use the existing DR TSM Server ( on TSM 6.2.4 ) for the restores of new PROD TSM Server ( 6.3.2 ) as well .

Basically i need to know if the same AIX LPAR can be used to restore TSM6.2.4 server as well TSM 6.3.2 Server .

I presume by saying 'the same LPAR' you mean running 2 instances on the LPAR side-by-side.

No - you cannot. To run 2 TSM instances, you need to have the same TSM version. TSM 6.3 and TSM 6.2 have different DB2 versions.

If you can logically partition the LPAR such that you install the two versions of TSM on the same LPAR, it is possible but I would not recommend it. One partition would install the the default /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/... and the other, may be at, /opt/tivoli/tsm1/server/... More so, you need to have two different install directories for the database and log files. And there are the other complexities: IP address, ports, etc.

Again, I would not go this route.

Build another LPAR.
