BACKUP STGPOOL: Process 208 terminated - insufficient space in target storage pool TAPES_COPY

Hi.

My TSM show my this errors :

BACKUP STGPOOL: Process 208 terminated - insufficient space in target storage pool TAPES_COPY

Scratch volume mount request denied - no scratch volume available.

The device class LTO4C is not the same as device class DBBACKUP defined for the serverbackup node $$_TSMDBMGR_$$.

I never admin TSM before.

Any one can help ?

This is usually caused by the max scratch level.

If you query the storage pool you will see two fields

Maximum Scratch Volumes Allowed and Number of Scratch Volumes Used - if these are the same then you have reached your limit

You can increase the maximum number of scratches by issuing the upd stg <pool name> maxscr=xxx

You need to free some Scratch tapes on tsm, you can do that with de MOVE DATA command, or inserting Scratch tapes on your library.
