We are deploying IBM Tivoli SM for virtual enviornment now in our organization.
Strange for me, I am not able to choose which drives I want to backup, only options that it gives me is to backup the whole VM. In Vmware Data Recovery software I have an options to choose which drive to backup. I have SQL servers, Oracle Server, Exchange Servers, etc and all of them have one small disk for Operating System and other drives used to hold the database. And actually it is useless to backup whole virtula machine - it will takes long time, also restore of the whole machine will take really long time and after restore any of the above mentioned servers have their own recovery process for installed application(oracle, sql server, exchange, etc). What I want is to backup only OS drive of this servers. Does anyone know if it is possible to backup only the system drive of the VM.

You can try to define these virtual disks as independant. It is just a workaround.

I am also wondering the same thing. Is it possible to back up only drive c: and not d:, e: ? If so, how does one do it?

If you use separate virtual disks for every drive (means c: = hard disk 1, d: = hard disk 2, ...) and TSM VE 6.4 you're able to define include/exclude statements like exclude.vmdisk * "hard disk 1". But there are some limitations in defining such statements. Please check the TSM information center at:
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/t...nclude_vmdisk.html?resultof="include.vmdisk" and
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/t...ity_scenarios.html?resultof="include.vmdisk" .
Please check your VM host installation language because the virtual disk names are hard coded (don't believe in the vsphere client output - this depends on the locale option - you can use powercli the check your hard disk names).
