Hi,

Networker licensing gurus, heres a quick one:

Are Networker Jukebox # slots Licenses additive?

I have both a 32 slot loader enabler code and an 8 slot enabler code -

Can I use 40 slots out of a single 48 slot loader with this arrangement?

Thanks,

Matt

No, Sir. You must have a license that covers the full number of slots reported by the jukebox.

Update:

Bought a Sun StorageTek SL48 Jukebox --- has 48 slots, but as 605 says, Networker can only "know about" 32 of them, due to our loader license/enabler.

So I configured the Sun StorageTek SL48 to only report 32 slots, and my enabler
seems to be satisfied with that.

There is a web page for the Loader - tapes can be moved around in
the web management interface, but you must then tell Networker to
inventory those slots, or else the loader and the NW/Media DB will
be out of synch.

a good solution, and Im $6K less poor for enablers.

Most licenses will recognize a fixed number of slots, to utilize additional slots usually requires you to update the license to recognize the new number of lots. I believe this has to do with total capacity (e.g. if 600 slots = 30TB, then 590 slots = 19.6TB). Unfortunately most storage management apps. for jukeboxes are licensed in this manner.
My only recommendation will be an agnostic blu ray based optical jukebox/library like the A3 machine that sees the entire machine as one volume set and you can manage accordingly. This way you can add as many slots as you want and they're all automatically recognized. Feel free to reach me directly and I will be glad to provide additional details.
