I need to archive exchange monthly and send it offsite for 13 months. For normal full backups, the TDP script uses the tdpexcc backup * full command. Is there a tdpexcc archive * command???

C:
cd %xch_dir%
date /T < NUL >> %xch_dir%\tdpxchsched-full.log
time /T < NUL >> %xch_dir%\tdpxchsched-full.log

%xch_dir%\tdpexcc archive * full /tsmoptfile=%xch_dir%\dsm.opt /logfile=%xch_dir%\tdpxch.log >> %xch_dir%\tdpxchsched-full.log ????

Id just run the backup and bind it to a management class that keeps it offsite for 13 months. It will keep the bloat of your DB down (especially when talking about Exchange DBs) and will be more managable.

Just create a schedule that runs monthly and bind the 13 month MC to it.

How do I bind the management class itn the dsm.opt??

Regards

Hi,

Bind the management class against the storage pool specifically defined for this purpose.

it is a bit offtopic:

I have been working with TSM for some years now but I have not heard that that is possible.
Can I really run my retention policies against media?
I always thought management classes can only be used for client nodes, folder, files...

That would mean that I could have a different hold-back time for the same client node for different storage pools???

regards
