Archive to diskpool is slow

Hi,

I'm archiving files to the disk pool and the maximum speed I get is 9MB/s. I tried set archiving straight to the LTO volume and got speeds like 40-60MB/s.
I have done some test with ftp and copied files to the same disk and I got also 60MB/s. Network tests shows that the network works correctly on 1000Mb/s.
So I think there is something strange with archiving to the disk pool but I haven't found any solution yet.

Depending on the size/# of files it can be slowed by the aggregate/package function of TSM. How many files are involved?

If you mean disk poold volume sizes, then firstly I used 10G files, then I tried 50G files and now I have 100G volume files. Unfortunately it changes nothing.

Hi all,

I found a solution. There is one undocumented option called ''DIRECTIO" for tsm server. I added "DIRECTIO NO" to my dsmserv.opt file and everything got much better, now it's archiving to the disk pool 30 - 40 MB/s. Success
